Since i was a child i discover the pure joy of sports. The action of the senses and the challenge of the limits. On May the 18th, is the European Day of Museums. All Museums are open to the public without ticket. A nice opportunity for all to visit our beautiful museums and have some fun. Here in Delphi, a nice small fest is prepared for the youngsters and the elderly ones. A nice initiative that will bring together two of the generations that still fight for life on their own special way. You are all more than welcome.

The temperature started climbing again to over 30*C. Time for a nice swimm at the Kressean Gulf and Kirra. A hat, sunglasses, lotion, cool water and a nice snack at the bag and so we hit the beach early afternoon. Later on at night, after a refreshing shower, we attend one of the fine theatrical productions at the European Cultural Center of Delphi. Summer is so beautiful after all. Still envy? ;-)

Working environment is almost ruling our daylight life. The same stands for the "Citizen Service Center" of Delphi. Located at level zero of the City Hall building with the big exhibition room, "lonelyness" is not the most suitable word to describe the atmosphere. The 4th Delphi Cup of Cycling in set for June 7-8. More than 120 veteran cyclists (28-60 years old) will compete fot the throphy in a 2day challenge. The 11km sprint and the 120km pursuit. Finishing under the harsh summer sun is always a win. No winner takes it all afterall ;-)

I'ts spring time, so we dedicate this page to this beautiful season of the year. Today we host a real star. A rare fungus that drives every local crazy. With only a few days of life every year, "Kalogeraki" is hiding in the forests and you have to be trained good enough to discover them. They love humidity, sun and shade. You have to walk very long distances on the mountain in order to be proud enough to come back home with some of those nature's miracles. The taste is unforgetable. Enjoy :-)

Life is full of magic moments that we tend to forget easily. I have many times captured the beautiful Delphi sky action. Well, it was about time i captured downwards. And thanx to an aircraft i did it last summer on my way to london. Flew over my home and had this beautiful moment 35.000ft above Delphi. But the magic still goes on. The airplane that i was aboard was a state of the art one. An Airbus A340-300 of Olympic Airways. Where's the magic? Hmmm... The plane with registration SX-DFB is named... "Delphi". :-) Life is so playful.. isn't it? Enjoy it.

The benefit of leaving by the over-centenarian olive grove of Chrisso is somehow demonstrated to you by the photo. The sacred Olive is blessing our land centuries now and we honour her every day on our table. Yammies. You should taste our traditional olive bread, baked on a wooden oven and coming out of it hot and steaming ready to satisfy your senses. This is what i call " olive my myth in Greece".. :-)

History is always written in moments. Moments of truth, moments of creation, moments of discovering, moments of inventing, moments of action, moments of achieving. All those moments are always worth of being preserved. Some of those moments were finely preserved by the French Archaeological School which had the honor of bringing back to light the Delphi Oracle and its treasures. All those moments are now part of the Delphic Excavations Exhibition that is almost ready to open its wings across Greece and help on spreading those history moments around. Its nice to have the option of counting friends. :-)

Talking devine, its always so interesting to pass by these nanochapels ("proskinitaria" in greek) that are spread all over the greek territory. Symbols of remembrance and of eternal communication with the beloved ones that no longer live among us. A "kandili", a small glass pot full of oil that keeps the flame always lit in order to light the lost souls' way. Remembering is existing.

The old church of Aghios Konstantinos (St Constantine) used to be the first chuch of modern Delphi back to 1894. Nowdays, after some years of closed doors, father Nektarios gave life again to this beautiful chapel. The idea is to transform this place into a beautiful religious museum where all of its treasures (and they are a lot!) will find a place in history and a chance to attract some visiting glances as well.

Delphi Mayor, Panayiotis Kaltsis, is showing the Delphean ancient roads of the Olympics to a chinese delegation. Delphi Oracle was responsible for the birth of the Olympics. The prophecy to Iphytos (King of Ilia) demanded that a kind of games should be created in order to bring peace back to Peloponese kingdoms. The games that started at 776 B.C. were named Olympic Games (out of the city of Olympia), and this year, 2008 A.D., Beijing of China will continue the prophecy.

Yesterday was a fabulous day. Warm sunshine invited me to a walk around town. This time i decided to enjoy our famous sunshine the opposite way. I guided my glance towards one of the oldest houses in Delphi. A traditional house of the early habitation years (1894) that is still standing proudly facing Sun. Was a nice sunset :-)

The old oil press factory at Chrisso is not alive any more. Days of glory are history, though its remains stand still no matter what. The bodies of more than 4 small oil press factories ("liotryvi" in greek) are spread around the village and their architecture is a point of high interest. Technology has driven this small industry to beacome just a modern part of local history. But we do love history and most of all we love to share it. Join us.

As i walk around i wonder...of the beauty that decided to live here in Delphi. Taking a walk on a cold afternnon i found myself at the end of the city. At one of the most remoted balconies of nature that sooths your soul and makes your brain produce possitive energy. Don't hesitate to take a rest and free your mind.

Preparations for the new olives have already started. Early ones, the "greens" are gently slashed and preserved in small plastic barels along with water and salt. In a few months they gonna be ready for the table and for your appetite only. :-)
